{"id":2474,"date":"2013-04-29T09:42:52","date_gmt":"2013-04-29T14:42:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/beccablogs.com\/?p=2474"},"modified":"2013-04-29T09:42:52","modified_gmt":"2013-04-29T14:42:52","slug":"the-last-two-weeks","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/beccablogs.com\/?p=2474","title":{"rendered":"The Last Two Weeks"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In the last 2 weeks since deciding to move forward with the foster-adoption process, I have. . .<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Been in touch several times with the adoption advocate at <a title=\"Our Kids\" href=\"http:\/\/www.ourkids.us\/Pages\/default.aspx\" target=\"_blank\">Our Kids of Miami-Dade County<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Scheduled our Orientation class at which we will schedule our 10-weeks of <a title=\"PRIDE Classes\" href=\"http:\/\/www.ourkids.us\/ourpartners\/Documents\/Adoption%20Policy\/Adoption%20Policy.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">PRIDE classes<\/a> (PDF link)<\/li>\n<li>Joined a gym to ensure I will be around for a very long time for my child(ren)<\/li>\n<li>Committed to work on my personal problems<\/li>\n<li>Had breakfast with Steve that turned into brunch as we sat for 3 hours talking to a realtor about buying a home, her connections for jobs at UM and FIU, our lives, her schedule, real estate classes and so much more<\/li>\n<li>And subsequently, spent hours looking up homes between South Miami and Cutler Bay<\/li>\n<li>Talked about the process and foster-adoption to loads of people<\/li>\n<li>Discovered that my 20th high school reunion is next year \u2013 ugh!<\/li>\n<li>Gathered a ton of information about my amazing friends on the kind of parents they are (or want to be) and began forming the picture in my mind about my parenting style<\/li>\n<li>Got lost in Target in the <a title=\"Target Kids\" href=\"http:\/\/www.target.com\/c\/kids-furniture-decor\/-\/N-5xtxd#?lnk=gnav_kids_4_44&amp;intc=736563|null\" target=\"_blank\">children\u2019s bedroom<\/a> aisles \u2013 so much pink!<\/li>\n<li>Met another couple for dinner that I can\u2019t wait to hang out with a lot more<\/li>\n<li>And. . . just submitted my information to take classes to become a <a title=\"CASA\" href=\"http:\/\/www.casaforchildren.org\" target=\"_blank\">CASA<\/a> volunteer with the Guardian Ad Litem program<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>More to come! I&#8217;m sort of playing catch up and trying not to spew out so much information at once. I hope all my knowledge &#8211; and trust me, I learn more about foster-adoption every day &#8211; will be helpful for other folks as well.
